Your kitchen, your choices
Privacy policy
Updated October 6, 2026
Noodle Boy helps you save recipes, organize cookbooks, shop, and share with people you choose. This policy describes the iPhone app and its website.
Information we use
We store your account identifier, email address, and the name or photo supplied by your sign-in provider. We also store the profile details you choose, recipes, photos, source links, notes, cookbooks, grocery lists, friend relationships, invitations, and sharing settings.
Sign-in and hosting services process network, device, and session information to authenticate you and protect the service. We record service errors, performance information, and limited feature-use events to keep Noodle Boy working. We do not include recipe text or photos in our AI-operation diagnostic logs.
Photos and imports
You choose which photos to share. The iPhone photo picker does not give us access to your entire library. Camera access is requested only when you use the camera. Saving a recipe photo uploads it to your account. Uploaded profile and recipe photos are resized and have image metadata removed.
When you import a recipe from a photo, a link or pasted text, we send that photo, page or text through Vercel AI Gateway to OpenAI to organize it into ingredients and steps. If that service is unavailable, the iPhone app reads it on your device instead. We don't keep the imported photo or text unless you save the recipe. Importing a link also contacts the source website. Grocery organization may send ingredient text through the same service. You can review every imported recipe before saving it.
Sharing and visibility
Your profile name, username, bio, and selected photo or icon can be seen by people who visit your profile. Turning on discoverability also lets people find it in search. Public recipes and cookbooks are visible to others. Unlisted content and images can be accessed by people who have their links. Private cookbooks are limited to authorized members.
Friendship does not unlock private cookbooks. Cookbook roles control who can contribute or manage a book. People may keep screenshots, exported files, or independent copies of content you shared.
Services that help run Noodle Boy
Clerk handles accounts and sessions; Apple or Google handles the sign-in method you choose. Railway hosts the app service, database, and uploaded images. Sentry receives service diagnostics. Vercel AI Gateway and OpenAI process requests for the assisted features described above.
These services process data needed to provide their functions and may operate in countries other than yours. Noodle Boy does not include advertising or cross-app advertising tracking, and does not sell your personal information.
Your controls and deletion
You can edit your profile, turn off discoverability, remove friends, block accounts, report content, revoke invitations, and change cookbook sharing. When you report something, we store the report, its reason and any details you add so we can review it; the owner isn't told who reported it. The iPhone app keeps account-specific drafts and cooking progress on the device. Device exports can contain personal information; keep exported files somewhere you trust.
In the iPhone app, open Profile → Settings → Delete account to review and confirm deletion. Deletion removes your account and authored recipes, including their placements in shared books. A cookbook with another existing owner transfers to that owner; a book with no other owner is removed. Other people’s independently authored recipes remain theirs.
Account and stored-image deletion may finish in stages when a provider is unavailable. Photos still used by surviving shared content may remain. Minimal deletion records remain to finish cleanup and prevent a deleted account from being recreated by a delayed event. Backups and service security records may remain until their retention periods end. Copies independently saved by other people and files you exported cannot be recalled.
